Graduate student and basketball player Michaela VanderKlugt has been named first team all-American and DII CAA west regional player of the year. That’s not all, though. VanderKlugt is also the all-time leading rebounder in school history, and in the PacWest she is conference player of the year, and she has scored over 2000 points in her collegiate career. The list goes on for VanderKlugt.

The Americana Ensemble concert is Fri., April 1, at 7 p.m. It will be located in the Borland-Manske Center in the Charlie and Ling Zhang Orchestra Hall, and is free to attend!

Director and Music Department Chair, Dr. Tom Mueller said, “The ensemble rehearses once a week and members prepare outside of that rehearsal to learn their parts.” He added, “It’s like a bluegrass band or jazz group, but some people may have solos, a fiddle or guitar solo may just happen in the middle of a piece. There’s lots of variety from instruments and voices.”

Jeff Runyan honored as an ACWPC Division ll First Team All-American

Senior water polo player Jeff Runyan has been honored as an ACWPC Division ll First Team All-American. Runyan earned this same honor at Merced College before transferring to CUI. Runyan has scored 80 goals this season, only 52 goals away from breaking the all-time scoring record at Concordia. His goal for the upcoming season is to be named All American again and break the school record.

Freshman Olivia Ocampo has been recognized as the soccer First Team All-PacWest and honored Freshman of the Year for the conference. Ocampo led the Eagles this season with eight goals, accomplishing that by only taking 23 shots, with 13 finding the frame of the goal. She had four game-winning goals this year and a dominant presence in the midfield. Her great performances in her first collegiate season are just a glimpse of what she will bring to the team in the coming years.

Hustle and heart set the off-season baseball team apart

Our off-season baseball team is preparing for the season by improving and developing their skills as individuals and as teammates while also enjoying team bonding activities. The team is practicing daily, working on their mechanics, and emphasizing on slowing the game down. Pitchers and position players are weight training three to four times a week at different times of the day. They are also scrimmaging twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays at Crean Lutheran High School.
